I was approached by my sister and asked if I could
design and build a web site for her friend Kim Sexton who was starting up her own
business which was offering beauty training courses.
I met up with Kim and discussed her requirements, which included the
key elements listed below:
-
What was the purpose of the web site?
-
What domain name was she interested in having?
-
What were the timescales on getting the site built?
We discussed the purpose of the web site and decided that it was going
to be a site where people could find out all about the courses offered, how to enrol
on the course they had selected, how to find the training centre and information about
Kim and the training centre itself.
Domain names are a slightly different issue. Due to the huge amount of
names being bought already, it really is a case of having a brainstorm to think of
lots of possibilities that would be acceptable. Luckily, having spoken to Kim and
found out about her business and what it represented, I thought of www.traininginbeauty.co.uk. Quite
surprisingly this domain name was available to purchase, which we did.
As far as timescales went, Kim had organised some press adverts which
were due to be advertised approximately 1 month after our initial meeting. The web
site took two weeks to build, test and set live. We managed to get the site up and
running 3 days prior to her adverts being printed.
Kim was very pleased with her web site and has had a lot of positive
feedback from course attendees as well friends and other business associates. Kim
