The Face of CustomScan
Tony spent 40 years in UK Customs, undertaking a wide variety of tasks in the anti – smuggling and law enforcement area. During his last 5 years in UK Customs he was head of the UK Scanner Project team, dealing with the procurement and deployment of freight scanners at all major UK ports, as well as the placement of baggage scanners at all UK airports.

Recognising Tony’s unique skillset, UK Customs loaned him to assist overseas governments and agencies to advise best practice for integrating scanners into their individual law enforcement programmes.

After leaving UK Customs, and as a result of continued requests to assist in scanner implementation programmes, Tony set up his own company to work with governments around the world, particularly in Asia and Africa. To date he has assisted over 21 countries in writing or assessing tenders, working together with government agencies to select the most appropriate scanners for the particular threat that is posed to a country, and assisting in the implementation of scanner programmes. These scanner operations have all worked towards meeting the objectives in the WCO Framework of Standards (http://www.wcoomd.org/home.htm)

His work has now led to him utilising his extensive Customs background to advise on threat assessments, port traffic flows and targeting techniques, all integrated into the logical process flow of interception of high risk imports and exports and transhipments that can threaten a nation’s security from the economic and physical aspect.
